Export Control and Compliance Specialist

Join a small, dynamic team responsible for ensuring that all FANUC Europe transactions comply with local, international, and internal regulations, protecting the Company from reputational, regulatory, and legal risks. You will handle complex export control cases, requiring a strong understanding of the regulations and their impact on our business, and provide accurate assessments. You will also identify potential risks and implement measures to mitigate them. Additionally, you will support the team manager with corporate compliance tasks, such as drafting policies, conducting investigations, and delivering training.
WHAT IS THE ROLE?
- Daily management of Export Control cases raised by FANUC’s subsidiaries across Europe, with an emphasis on accuracy, time-sensitiveness and documentation
- Daily interaction with our Headquarters in Japan, following our internal approval channels
- Contribute to develop efficient and effective Export Control policies, procedures and guidelines
- Stay up to date on legislative and regulatory changes, ensuring these updates are integrated into our business practices
- Contribute to identify main risks and propose effective mitigation measures to reduce exposure
- Become Subject Matter expert & point of contact in FANUC for Export Control & Trade Compliance topics, answering questions and requests from various stakeholders in our organization
- Manage IT tools related to Export Control & Trade Compliance (e.g. sanction monitoring)
- Support the internal training activities, including possible limited travels to our affiliates in Europe
- Support Corporate Compliance activities as needed
- Participate in the development of the corporate compliance framework
- Participate in the enhancement of the company policies repository and work with the various stakeholders for the policy management process
- Manage the Compliance e-learning courses as well as the relationship with the provider
- Provide ad-hoc support
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in law, International Relations, or related fields
- 2-5 years of professional experience in Export control, Trade compliance, or a similar area
- Detail-oriented, methodical, and process-driven, with a commitment to delivering high-quality results in daily tasks
- Capable of managing various requests and projects simultaneously
- Collaborates effectively across functions and teams
- Customer-centric and strong business orientation
- Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate issues appropriately
- A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement and adapting to a changing regulatory environment
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken); additional language skills are a plus
- Proficient with IT tools
- Strong knowledge and understanding of geopolitical issues and their influence on business operations
